Just a heads up guys, NOVEMBER 1st is the deadline for this contest and so far I've only gotten 1 entry!! So get to work!




I really don't think we give cartoons enough credit. That's why, in the name of all that is 2-D and colorful and fun, I am challenging YOU to design your own cartoon character! It doens't have to be well drawn, anatomically correct, or even cute. In fact, I encourage you to make it as ugly as possible! Just let your imaginations run wild. Draw your imaginary friend, your aunt's wart, a dead dog, anything really can become a great cartoon. Make it as simple or as complex as you want, and you really don't even have to spend alot of time on it. Whatever you do, just be original and have fun with it.

RULES
It MUST be original!
Coloring isn't nessary, but it would be great!
Entry must have been created no earlier than June 24. (If you already have a character that you like but it was created before June 24, you can still use the character, just make a new picture.)
Be wild and creative, but not vulgar. For example, no Penis-Man. (But you guys are all great and I know you wouldn't do that! I'm just being thorough )
There will be voter's choice winners, which will be picked by the enterants via note, and judges winners, which will be picked by me. There's a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize for both. (So two 1st, two 2nd, and so on). Also, you can't win twice!
The deadline for submission is November 1st. To submit an entry, just send me a note with a link to the deviation and put a link to this journal entry in the artists comments. Then I'll add it to the contest gallery. You can submit up to two different characters.
Seriously, have fun. I know it sounds cliche, but that's what cartoons are all about. Leave the real world behind for a bit, let your inner child out, and just go crazy. Good luck.

PRIZES
I don't have any subbies to give away right now, I'm afraid, but I'm making some stuff, and if anyone's interested in donating prizes, please PLEASE let me know. It doesn't even have to be subscriptions, in can be ANYTHING! Features in journals are always great, and there free

All the prizes are the same for both Voter's Choice and Judge Pick, so there will be a total of 6 winners.

1st Prize
- one Nublin plush (and first choice in picking it, because I have to pre-make them)
- a drawing/painting/photography of something of your choice, done by me (I'll send you the original piece, if you want it )
- something knitted of your choice (i.e., wristlets, hairbands, hats)
- a month-long feature in my journal

2nd Prize
- one Nublin plush (and second choice in picking it)
- drawing/painting/photo of your choice

3rd Prize
- one Nublin (last choice in picking, sorry!)

In addition, I'm going to make a composite poster of ALL the cartoons entered and FlameThrower Man, and I'll post that when its finished for all to see!
